Medical History Policy
This policy aims to comply with good practice guidelines on Examination ad Record Keeping from the Faculty of General Dental Practice and GDC standard 4.1.1.
At every full and recall examination a complete medical history is taken or updates using a medical history form, making sure that the patient fully understands each question. The clinician will check that the information on the form is correct and explore ant area of ambiguity or concern
Having an up-to-date medical history
- Helps identify conditions that may affect dental treatment
- Highlights the risk of a patient experiencing a medical emergency
- Aids in the diagnosis of oral manifestations of systemic disease
Without an up-to-date medical history - you will NOT be seen
